Usually I just let the voices drift over me but today I’m taking notice as a woman reminisces about how their parents used to grow vegetables. Grass is more labour intensive than growing your own vegetables, I tell the unresponsive box. The same fate can befall someone who is considering starting vegetable growing. Do it now.

Good grief. The more obscure an item, the harder it is for us to resist throwing it out the easy way—in the trash can. Who knew?
