Nationwide Building Society’s consumer confidence index fell by ten points to 38 last month – its lowest level since the survey began in May 2004 – after another sharp drop in January of the year. A growing pessimism among consumers towards making purchases also pushed the survey’s spending index down to 52 points in February.
