Tracking the Worst C02 Emissions

Eco Friendly Daily

The Center for Global Development (CGD) in Washington, D.C. It sounds dry, but one of the best parts about this extensive source of emissions information is the way the CGD compiled it into an easy-to-use interactive website at Power Plants with Highest CO2 Emissions.

Bill Gates at TED2010: We Need Energy Miracles

Green Life Smart Life

Titled “Innovating to Zero,&# Gates touches on our need to strive towards zero CO2 emissions. It’s worth the 27 minutes and kudos to Gates for presenting a more logical perspective in a time when extra snow in the DC area means there’s no such thing as global warming. Of all the speeches and talks I’ve heard on climate change, Bill Gates’ recent TED2010 talk was the most pragmatic and thoughtful.

G8 Recognizes Need to Act on Super Greenhouse Gases, Considers More Aggressive Stance on CO2

Green (Living) Review

Washington, D.C., July 2009 – As the Group of Eight began discussions on targets for reducing climate emissions, talk was circulating of a possible commitment to limit warming to 2?C. The only way to meet these goals however, will be to pursue fast and big cuts in both CO2 emissions, which are causing half of the warming, and non-CO2 emissions which are causing the other half. C scenario to stabilize CO2 at 450 ppm.

Scientists to U.S. Congressional Committee: Time for Serious Action on Black Carbon

Green (Living) Review

Aggressive mitigation of second largest contributor to climate change can provide significant environmental and health benefits Washington, D.C., March 2010 – Black carbon soot, produced from incomplete combustion of diesel fuel and biomass, is one of the largest contributors to climate change apart from CO2, as well as a danger to public health, and should be a prime target of policymakers according to scientists and experts testifying at today’s hearing of the U.S.

The Other Climate Changers: Why Black Carbon and Ozone Also Matter

Green (Living) Review

Washington , D.C., August 2009 – According to an essay published in the September/October issue of Foreign Affairs, reducing emissions of black carbon soot and ground-level ozone would quickly make a considerable dent in the climate change problem and would also contribute to public health and protect crop yields. Available technology such as diesel particulate filters for vehicles and cleaner-burning biomass and solar cookstoves can significantly reduce black carbon emissions.

Ozone Treaty Lauded for Climate Protection

Green (Living) Review

by Michael Smith (Veshengro) Washington, DC – After almost 23 years in existence, the Montreal Protocol treaty is increasingly recognized for its success in saving the ozone layer – and in providing critical protection for the climate system. HFCs are the current replacements for ozone-depleting HCFCs and can pack hundreds to thousands more global warming potential than CO2.

Inequality between rich and poor nations helps fuel a climate of mistrust and sabotages efforts to secure a climate deal

Green Blog

The poor developing nations were, compared to the North, very precise in their interpretation of the phrase and called for the rich developed nations to take the lead in the emission reductions. Developing nations didn’t want to accept any scheduled emission reduction targets for the future.
