Botswana wildlife conservation officials are investigating the mysterious death of 154 elephants in just 3 months. Anthrax was the first suspect on the list of possible causes, as it naturally occurs in the soil and harms wildlife in Botswana.

According to a statement released by the Botswana Wildlife Conservation on Monday, it turns out that the elephants were killed by cyanobacteria. According to Botswana officials, a total of 330 elephants died in just two months, prompting investigations into the actual causes of death.

I saw elegant Blue Cranes in South Africa, witnessed the extraordinary dance of the Lesser Bird-of-Paradise in Papua New Guinea, and found the Rufous-bellied Seedsnipe in the high Andes — a bird that I had been looking for, on and off, for 23 years.
