Britain Increasing Alternative Fuel Sector

Eco Friendly Daily

In the United States many are pushing for alternative fuels in order to decrease or eliminate dependence upon foreign oil. The condition of the environment, particularly global warming, is also playing a role in why governments are turning to alternative fuels. Britain attains a great deal of their fuel from the North Sea, however, the reserves in this area are in decline. Due to this, Britain is being forced to find alternative fuels.

Study: Shale Gas Detrimental To Global Warming

Eco Friendly Daily

Despite the growth of the renewable energy field, fossil fuel dependence continues to grow worldwide. Due to this, many are attempting to find new types of energy which could serve as a conventional fuel but with lower emissions. However, a new study performed by scientists in the United States to be released in the journal Climatic Change, has determined that shale gas would have a greater impact on climate change than current conventional fuels.

Masdar Wind Project May Blow Back Into Egypt

Green Prophet

As part of a long-term strategy to advance alternative energy, Masdar had sought investment opportunities in the Egyptian windfarm industry, and in February 2010, they finalized plans to build a 200-megawatt wind farm on the Red Sea coastline. Egypt’s renewables target was announced in 2008 with a goal of sourcing 20% of its electricity from fossil-fuel alternatives by 2020.

A New Approach to Electric Cars

Eco Friendly Daily

Shai Agassi, former executive of a software company called SAP, is making his move in renovating the automobile industry. And with ideas like Agassi’s, the concept will hopefully travel faster into our world and illuminate the need for today’s fuel. Alternative Energy He has started a company called Project Better Place, in hopes of bringing electric cars to the top, by placing electric stations in urban areas for electric cars to “fill up”.

Cost Of Solar Drops Two-Thirds Since 2008; May Be Competitive With Fossil Fuels By 2016

Eco Friendly Daily

Fortunately changes in the industry have helped to reduce the overall cost of some forms, particularly solar, in order to make it more popular. Originally when solar panels came to the marketplace they were expensive and significantly more than typical fossil fuel alternatives. While solar energy still remains more expensive than fossil fuels, their prices have dropped notably in the last few years.

Natural Gas is No Climate Solution - Compass

Sierra Club Compass

There is no more denying that burning dirty fossil fuels like natural gas is to blame for our superstorms, droughts, and wildfires. Yet energy companies are still denying it and continuing to manipulate our government leaders into thinking we have time to reverse the damage that is already done, just by switching to another fossil fuel such as natural gas. Natural gas is not a bridge fuel—it is a gangplank. View an alternate. Dirty Fuels. Compass.

Palms Up To Palm Oil

Eco Friendly Daily

With the advent of biodiesel as a fuel alternative, palm oil has yet another source for pressing demand. So curtailing production and export hits already impoverished people, as well as impacting other employed in the industry. Demonstrators have been focusing their efforts on commercial users of palm oil. Now seemingly ubiquitous in many countries, this oil has various uses – and it is vying with soybean oil for the title of “most widely produced vegetable oil”.

Researchers Say H20-Intensive Technology is Impossible for Desert Solar!

Green Prophet

The ambitious plan to develop solar and wind energy in North Africa’s deserts could replace harmful fossil fuel alternatives, but researchers are quick to dismiss the notion that renewable energy projects are completely innocent. These, according to Dr. Patt, only require 2% of the water available, which is less than the fossil fuel industry currently extracts.
