Afghanistan Elections 2010

Green (Living) Review

by Michael Smith (Veshengro) Election day 2010 in Afghanistan was dominated by spotty turnout, fake voter cards, and some feisty voters. Afghanistan's election 2010 yielded reports of intimidation in unstable regions. Already in the first hour of voting the observers from the Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan reported 224 "serious acts of intimidation" and this continued throughout the day. So, what has the NATO presence if Afghanistan archived?

Burning of Quran by Florida pastor causes uprisings in Afghanistan

Green (Living) Review

By Michael Smith (Veshengro) But, says pastor's colleague, it is the Muslims' fault not ours. We put the Quran on trial and condemned it to be burned. Sorry, they put a book on trial? They are out of their tiny little minds, it would appear, and appear to be in need of some serious help. What planet are Terry Jones and his ilk are actually on? And calling them pastors, let alone Reverends, definitely does not compute and would be giving the wrong signals.

by Michael Smith (Veshengro) So, remind us again, please, Mr. Prime Minister, why our troops are in Afghanistan? The fairy tale that the British forces are in Afghanistan being so that the British people can be safe on their streets is beginning to wear thin, especially when findings such as this come along. The truth for the military presence in Afghanistan is entirely different to what we are being force fed by the powers-that-be.

Afghan elections 2009 – Fraud and intimidation

Green (Living) Review

We are not talking democracy in a country like Afghanistan. Afghanistan has always been a problem, if we want to put it that way, and is a very fractured place due to the varying tribes and groups of peoples with the Pashtuns, aka the Pathans, having been, due to their warrior nature, being more often than not he dominant group and been running the country. Afghanistan is a feudal society and will remain such for many years and more than likely decades to come.
