Sweetwater Wetlands Park in Tucson, Arizona

In addition, for the last four5 years he has lead a Wednesday morning walk at the famed Sweetwater Wetlands, Northwest of Tucson. Sweetwater Wetlands has been established as a public area, and maintained, as well as it can while still a functioning recharge basin, as an amazing bird sanctuary.

Derby Poo Ponds and waste water wetland upgrade

We were able to add a few new birds to the 2019 Year List and had a good day out. We checked out the Derby Airport and there were Masked Lapwings there as usual and several other bird species at a small wetland that had formed from recent rain. Overflow area at the wetlands.

It’s a lucky day when a birder can visit this exciting region because such a wide variety of species are possible, especially so in sites like Cano Negro that blend wetlands with rainforest. Watch for birds masquerading as Black Vultures along rivers, in swampy rainforest, and wetlands near forest. In Costa Rica, we have two coasts, a pair of shorelines that touch two oceans. To the west and south, we have the Pacific, go east and north and a birder scans the Atlantic.

Birding Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge in Louisiana

This has also made the Reed Parrotbill the symbol of a local initiative to protect the wetlands of Nanhui. Anybody spending a few days in Shanghai for business or tourism may not think that this is a good place for birding. In fact, I have had some visitors from India remark to me that “there are no birds here” – a remark I can understand given the huge number of birds encountered even in big Indian cities such as Mumbai or Delhi.

Finding an Asian Openbill in Singapore-second ever record!

We had been busying bird watching all over Singapore and had reached 112 bird species and had decided it was time to visit Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. Transferring immediately to the 925 bus to get to the new entrance of the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve was an additional 5 cents!
