Some companies are using the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2010 as a launchpad for new products, amongst which is the “Upside-Down Patio Garden” by Flambeu. Hawthorn and other fruit-bearing trees, shrubs and bushes abundant in produce. Signs of a bad winter to come?

Solar-Powered CommonWealth Games 2010

Solar Power Ninja

Reliance Industries, an energy company, released a statement that said it has commissioned the country’s first one-megawatt solar plant to power a stadium to be used in the upcoming CommonWealth Games. The company’s solar energy department, RIL Solar Group has “successfully implemented and commissioned 1-MW solar plant on the roof of the Thyagaraj Stadium here,” RIL said in a press statement.

Going green has saved Sutton Council £227k in 2010

This shows what can be done with, what appears to be, small acts. The annual EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) report shows that energy use in the council has fallen by 15 percent since 2002 saving £164,000 a year.

Launch of The Edible Garden Show postponed until 2011 The Edible Garden Show that had been announced with a bit of a fanfare not so long ago to happen in Spring 2010 at Stoneleigh Park has been canceled for this year, which is rather a shame. Although the imaginative concept for the new show had been well received, organisers found increasing difficulty in securing commitment from enough exhibitors to justify the scheduled launch on Friday, March 19, 2010.

The things that particular have caught my attention are the fold-up wooden stool on page 7; ideal for reaching those tops of cupboards. The frying-pan rack on page 9.

WorldFest 2010

I just returned from a wonderful day at WorldFest. It was similar to last year , but my personal experience was quite difference. Going there on a gluten-free and soy-free diet definitely restricted my food options, but I felt great the entire day and had some fabulous food. Rawsheed had an awesome combo plate with his new pizza, a salad, and soup. He is opening a new cafe soon, which will be entirely gluten-free and oil-free!

by Michael Smith (Veshengro) This year's EcoBuild seems to have been bigger, much bigger, in fact, that previous years and the entire Earls Court 1 and 2 were taken up, basically, for stands and lecture theaters. The buzz on the floor was enormous and the footfall on the first day alone, the day that I visited, must have been in the thousands. A great number of new companies with new products could be seen as well as old, well-known ones with new and not so new products.
