Wanted: an eco prophet
More United Nations panels, flying lugubriously hither and yon in the cause of consensus. It’s an exceptionally inconvenient truth. Only one American in three believes that human beings are responsible for climate change: a polling result 10% down on where opinion rested the year before. Worse, the number of Americans who believe that climate change is a hoax or a scientific conspiracy – not doubting, just damned blank certain

United Nations Celebrates Fibers and Biodiversity with Eco Chic Fashion Show in Geneva
I just ran across this video from the eco fashion show that was held a few weeks ago at the Palais de Nations, the UN headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. (See the dearth of affordable environmentally friendly textiles, the absence of government support for students and young designers in developing nations, and the lack of consistency in sustainability standards (or even a shared vocabulary) worldwide.
See if you can spot eco models Summer Rayne Oakes and Kate Dillon among the grey-coiffed walkers.)

Alliance of Civilizations - United Nations
Exploring Misconceptions about the Islamic World – A Daily Lesson Plan on the AoC by the New York Times Learning Network In this lesson, students learn about a United Nations initiative to create the Alliance of Civilizations to resolve conflict between the East and West. It features consensus guidelines (drawn up at local, provincial, national and international levels) about teaching about religions and beliefs in schools, and learning and teaching materials including curricula, syllabi, and teaching tools. Alliance of Civilizations - www.unaoc.org Education To bring the concept of an Alliance of Civilizations to practical fulfillment, education must be addressed at multiple levels. The most obvious aspect of education that must be considered are those efforts that replace ignorance of the Other with knowledge of the Other, promoting understanding and tolerance in place of misunderstanding and intolerance.

WTF? TV Ad Claims CO2 is Good For the Earth
In fact, a new report by the United Nations (UN) Environment Programme finds that climate change is racing towards irreversibility faster than previously imagined, and the culprit is CO2.
