From Jackie's Blog
CFLs also reduce the release of greenhouse gas emissions and are safer because they burn at a lower temperature (160° F or less) than incandescent and halogen lights, which can burn at temperatures up to 500° F. Pumping them up can improve your gas mileage by about 3.3 When purchasing your next car, make it a fuel-efficient one.

Zero carbon is a myth
Neither is environmentally friendly and both have their own greenhouse gas emissions. Zero Carbon is to some people a consummation devoutly to be wished and for others such stuff which dreams are made on. For me, it is a foolish fallacy that stands in the way of real climate change action. Going zero carbon ignores three points:-.

Is Population a Problem?
Assuming per capita emissions remain roughly where they are today, those 2 billion poor people will only boost the developing world’s share of greenhouse gas emissions from 7 to 11 percent. Trucks and freight trains run day and night, laden with fuel, fish, and food. Or is overconsumption the real planetary threat? It does not.

Reinvent Cities to Stop Climate Change
My professional training as a city planner is without a doubt part of the reason this topic idea caught my eye, but the consensus that about 70-80% of current carbon emissions are linked to cities is what convinced me to share this with the rest of you.

Sugarcane ethanol already meets California low carbon fuel standard, says Brazilian Sugarcane Association
CARB is scheduled to vote on the first-of-its-kind Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) on April 23-24. The objective of the LCFS is to reduce by 10% the carbon intensity of all transportation fuels in California by 2020. Sugarcane ethanol has a verifiable reduction in greenhouse gases of 90% compared to gasoline. billion liters (6.8

Ethanol Industry Sues California
The Federal government is asking the fuel industry to incrementally raise the levels of ethanol in the country’s gas. California has state legislation called the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 calling for car fuels to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Turning CO2 into limestone
Such as capturing the gas and storing (sequestering) it underground or on the ocean floor. These ideas often strike me as far fetched, costly, and difficult, and I can’t help thinking it would be simpler, cheaper and quicker to find ways of reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. CarbFix plans to turn CO2 into stone.

Is Local Food Better?
And, since our food is transported all those miles in ships, trains, trucks, and planes, attention to food miles also links up with broader concerns about the emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from fossil fuel-based transport. And what if greenhouses in northern Europe were heated with renewable energy?

What Is Cap & Trade: Understanding the Waxman-Markley Climate Bill
and Ed Markey (D-Mass.) The basic premise of this new climate bill is the attempt to reduce greenhouse gases by instituting a cap and trade program. . The goal here is obviously to put a price on natural capital, or the toll taken on the environment in manufacturing and distribution by way of fossil fuel consumption.
