George Monbiot's recent anti-micropower rant is seriously anti-green
If we would use 12 V DC circuits with inverters as and where needed we would be a great deal better of in so many way and we could generate electricity very, very local. The occasion for his latest outburst was the introduction of the UK government-backed Feed-in tariff (FiT), which will reward householders and others who generate renewable energy back into the grid. But again, price is only one issue, there is also the social benefits in terms of attitudinal change and awareness of environmental issues. One of the most important aspects, aside from energy security, of micro-generation

BWEA becomes RenewableUK; officially
We are using alternative current (AC) which cannot be stored, unlike direct current (DC), and also has great voltage drop on long distance as compared to DC. While I know why AC was chosen when using the high voltages we use, DC would be much more effective and efficient, especially if we used it at low voltages, as it is done in many places, stored the energy in deep-cycle lead-acid batteries and, if and where needed, inverted the power. We have a great opportunity now, where we have to rethink how we live and act as far as the environment and climate change is concerned, to entirely rework

Anti-Windfarm Campaigns in UK
We do not need 240V AC at home primarily. What we require is a rework of home electricity networks with one circuit that can be fed by wind and solar and runs 12V DC and one circuit that has “mains” voltage for use with big power equipment, such as washing machines, microwaves. have power supplies in them is to transform the mains voltage down into low voltage direct current, You PC internally uses less than 12V DC – and that is a tower or desktop even. by Michael Smith (Veshengro) Britain seems to be the only country, in Europe at least, that is so full of NIMBYs who will go all out to destroy every effort as to renewable energy. Windfarms are always met with looks, low level noise, wildlife concerns and others, one of which is also “it will reduce the value of our homes”. But solar panels too end up with some problems in Britain. While having its fair share – more than its fair share I am sure some people would say – of wind Britain does rather lack in the sun light department. A great deal of UK energy needs could be produced

Being Frugal... Now an Unpatriotic Activity
That is the latest that we are hearing from the government in Whitehall and in Washington DC. It would appear from what has been said in DC that people adhering to a frugal lifestyle could be regarded as engaging in Un-American activity and this all because they think that people going out and spending, spending and spending will get us all out of the depressions that the powers that be have gotten us into. by Michael Smith (Veshengro) It is now considered unpatriotic now to save and to be frugal. No way, Jose.
